Skyfall 007 Black Tie Charity Auction Dinner
Press Release - 22 September 2012
On the night of the 21st of September The Feathered Nest Inn hosted a charity dinner in aid of “Breakthrough Breast Cancer”. This black tie event was sold out on the first day the tickets were released.
The September weather was not in our favour but that did not dampen the spirit of our guests, whom upon arrival for the cocktail party, had the opportunity to view two Aston Martin Cars kindly made available by HR OWEN – Aston Martin and by Mr. Mitchell – both polished to perfection I must say!
Kuba Winkowski, our head chef, slowly enticed all present with delicious canapés during the Champagne reception and this got the evening of to a flying start.
A seven course tasting menu followed, with the Champagnes and wines to match each course, donated by The House Of Bollinger.
The dinner was held to raise funds for the charity “Breakthrough Breast Cancer” and at the same time celebrate the 50th anniversary of James Bond 007.
After copious amounts of Champagne and wine, coffee was served with Cognac Delamain Vesper XO Grande Champagne. This just to help our auction along!
Lucy Maitland Smith offered to take on the auctioneers gavel and did us all proud by keeping those purse strings open (the Cognac helped!)
Sam Mendes, the director of SKYFALL, kindly donated 2 tickets, which were auctioned for the Royal Premiere of the latest Bond Movie to be screened in London on the 23rd of October. Bidding was fierce for these much sought after tickets, as indeed it was for a poster of the movie signed by both Sam and Daniel Craig.
All in all the dinner, together with several other prizes, helped us raise £5990 for “Breakthrough Breast Cancer”.
I wish to thank Mentzendorff & Co, Whatley Manor, HR. Owen, Lords Of The Manor and Sam Mendes for their generous support.
Also a big thank you to Lucy Maitland Smith, our gilt-edged auctioneer “sans comparaison”.
And last but not least, thank you to all whom attended the event for helping us raise the so much needed funds for “Breakthrough Breast Cancer”.
