Cheltenham: Cheltenham Spa, England's most complete Regency town is characterised by intricate ironwork balconies and painted stucco facades, which line the historic Promenade, squares and terraces. Montpellier, south of Imperial Gardens, is a haven for browsing and indulgence: an area for smaller, very distinctive shops. With its award-winning gardens, impressive range of stylish shops and restaurants, and festivals of horse racing, music and literature, Cheltenham is well worth the visit and is 22m from The Feathered Nest.

Oxford: Oxford, as an ancient university city, is both timeless and modern. Its 'dreaming spires' and tranquil college quadrangles co-exist with lively arts venues, bustling shops and fashionable restaurants. For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th century an established town, although people are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years. Oxford is accessible from The Feathered Nest by train from Kingham, or bus from Burford and is only 25m from Nether Westcote.

Longborough Festival Opera: Enjoy high quality opera in the intimate 500 seat theatre, with an orchestra pit for 65 players. Set in the heart of the Cotswolds, Longborough is sited overlooking the Evenlode valley, with some of the most glorious views in England. An extensive network of country lanes link the famous Cotswold villages and market towns leading away from the hustle and bustle. They give a tremendous choice of routes with an ever changing view. Miles of bridleways and byways offer plenty of scope for mountain bikers. Ancient green lanes mixed with farm tracks – all set amongst beautiful Cotswold countryside.

Fly Fishing Tuition

Elite Fly Fishing School offers tuition with Brian Morris, for Spey Casting instruction with the creator of the Super Spey, and Trout Fly Fishing. Brian has over 20 years of teaching experience with many classes of anglers, and is AGIA, STANIC and REFFIS accredited. Classes are taught at Busheyleaze Fishery, a large 22 acre lake surrounded by 42 acres of Meadowland, resulting in a nice, peaceful and secluded area to fish on. As well as being a natural environment, it also offers excellent fishing from boats with secluded bays for bank anglers. Lechlade and Bushyleaze Trout Fisheries are located on the Burford Road on the outskirts of Lechlade-on-Thames, only 13 miles from The Feathered Nest Country Inn.
